Giorgio Vasari - Drawings at the Louvre
Giorgio Vasari, a painter, architect and writer (1511-1574), was one of the major figures in the artistic production of 16th century Florence. The author of the book "Vite" ("The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors and Architects"), he was also the promoter of the "bella maniera" or "beautiful style" of refined court art, for which drawing is fundamental. This is the basis of the exhibition at the Louvre Museum, organised to mark the fifth centenary of the artist's birth.
