Cambodia - Southeast Asia art department - Musée Guimet
The creation of the Southeast Asia art department at the Musée Guimet was made possible by bringing together two great Khmer art collections: the Emile Guimet museum's former collection and that of the former Trocadero Indochina Museum. These collections were added to up until 1936 by shipments from the Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient of which the Banteay Srei pediment is part. This collection of Khmer sculptures illustrates the great periods of Cambodian art, from its origins to the present day and is the only one of its kind in the West.
