Hokusai (Grand Palais from 1st October 2014 to 18 January 2015)
Today, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) is the most famous Japanese artist in the world. His paintings, drawings and engravings incarnate the spirituality and soul of his country, particularly through his landscape prints, a remarkable synthesis of the traditional principles of Japanese art and Western influences.
Designed in two parts, the exhibition will display 500 exceptional works, the majority of which will never leave Japan again after the opening of the Hokusai Institute in Tokyo in spring 2015.
