Tsugouharu Foujita, also known by his family name, Foujita, or by the name adopted at the end of his life, Léonard Foujita, was a French painter, draughtsman and engraver of Japanese origin, and also an illustrator, ceramist, photographer, filmmaker and stylist. Foujita experienced the liveliest years of Montparnasse at the beginning of the last century. He threw himself into the battle of avant-garde modern art with Picasso, Modigliani, Brancusi, Derain, Zadkine, Indenbaum, Soutine and Kisling.
