Chantilly and the Condé Museum
The Château of Chantilly, a few kilometres to the north of Paris, is home to the Condé Museum and its rich
collection of 1,000 paintings, 2,500 drawings and 2,500 engravings. The château is France’s second most
important museum of old masters’ paintings after the Louvre, displaying major works by Raphael, Clouet,
Poussin, Ingres and Delacroix, and also houses a magnificent library of rare books and precious manuscripts
(20,000 books, 12,000 of which are old printed books). The original and majestic Chantilly estate continues to
amaze us with the natural topography of the site, the genius of its creators and the history of the men who
lived there.
