Female artists

Throughout the History of Art, the role of women has primarily been that of a muse, a model, a beauty or even a personification of Art. They have however always had a role to play in artistic production. Over the past few decades, Art historians have tried to bring to light the biographies of female artists, and draw attention to their own sensibilities and creativity in order to restore their real place in the History of Art.
