1909: The First Aeronautics Exhibition
A "mythical dream".
It was his desire to transcend the simple human condition that pushed man to dream of flying. Is this dream unique to humankind? This oneiric desire to escape gravity has been present since the dawn of time in myths, legends, folktales and faiths. Yet, it wasn't until the start of the 20th century that the first successful flights in "heavier-than-air" crafts were completed and the history of aviation began. The first aeronautics exhibition opened its doors one hundred years ago.
