Rodin, Flesh and Marble
Exhibition at Musée Rodin, from 8 June 2012 to 1 September 2013
"I am made of shadow and marble" said Victor Hugo. And Rodin took him at his word. The statue of the poet stands imposingly in the middle of some fifty other sculptures in the chapel of the Hôtel Biron. Often criticised and disregarded in the past, Rodin's marble sculptures nonetheless number around 400, and the intention of this new exhibition is to examine the place of these works in his career.
