Napoleon III and Italy:the birth of a nation 1848-1870
Paris, Musée de l’Armée, from 19 October 2011 to 15 January 2012.
In order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, this exhibition retraces the close ties between France and Italy and their links to this major political event. The ca. 300 works on display, some of which have never been exhibited before (including the first photographs taken in wartime) shed a new light on diplomacy, military feats, and public debates at the time. A passionate, exciting history of a people's quest for their unity and liberty.
