Médiathèque de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine – Photography Archive
The Photography Archives house photographic negatives - glass, paper, and soft negatives.
From the Mission Héliographique team, which was ordered by the Commission of Historic Monuments in 1851 and included Le Gray, Mestral, Baldus, Le Secq and Bayard, the Beaux-Arts Administration (historic monuments, museums) and Department of Cults regularly solicited photographers (Mieusement, Durand) or purchased entire collections (Atget, Martin-Sabon). These organisations also received collections from authorized photographers (Braun) responsible for reproducing paintings, sculptures and decorative arts for the government. In the aftermath of the Second World War, the Photography Archives continues to acquire photography collections, including works from Nadar’s prestigious workshop.
