Architectural scale models
Architectural scale models

Architectural scale models first appeared some 8,000 years ago. For architects, a scale model is primarily a means to get a better grasp of space and volume. Projects can thus be visualised to make improvements, to make them more comprehensible to an uninitiated public or even to ensure their promotion. Claude Levi-Strauss considered that every scale model is a work of art and that making it by hand is an experience in itself.
Here are exhibited a selection of projects, completed or unfinished, which illustrate their vast diversity in terms of the materials used, the sites chosen or their aesthetics.
