150th anniversary of Benjamin Rabier's birth
he National Library is featuring a famous French animal illustrator of the 19th century. Benjamin Rabier (1864-1939) delighted our grandparents and still captivates today.
A comic book and advertisement pioneer, this artist is best known for his famous Laughing Cow and Gideon the Duck illustrations. The images selected for this exhibition demonstrate just how many of his humorous and delightful drawings based on La Fontaine's fables and funny illustrations for period magazines were published.
