The Three Wise Men
Stars, Wise Men, and a Multitude of Gift Boxes.
A new star rising in the night sky prompted the Kings from the East - Balthasar, Caspar, and Melchior - to journey out and follow their extraordinary guiding star. No sooner arrived in Judea, these wise, distinguished and powerful foreigners, knelt and worshipped a newborn infant, lying in a manger, in a stable. They came bearing gifts which they offered in homage to their King: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The Christian faith accepts that Jesus was God's gift to mankind, whilst the Wise Men showered gifts on the infant Jesus. Might this perhaps be the reason why we exchange gifts at Christmas?
